Our Jura

Home / Our Jura
The Jura vineyard has always been a connoisseurs’ vineyard, for those who love Vin Jaune and Vin de Paille ( Yellow Wine and Straw Wine).

Our region is now experiencing a real revival. The world's leading wine tasters are passionate about this exceptionally diverse region; it is home to some of the world’s most interesting wines.

On the eastern border of France, between Burgundy and Switzerland, the Jura vineyard stretches over 80 kilometres, on the flank of the first foothills of the Jura massif. With its 1,800 hectares and 180 producers, it is the smallest vineyard in France and one of the most distinctive.

On the geological side, the Jura winegrowing landscape is the result of the collapse of the massif into the Bresse plain millions of years ago, which has produced such soil diversity. The famous steephead valleys of the Jura illustrate the limestone soils and its collapses, and while heading towards the Bresse plain, we find clays from different periods, folded by the advance of the cornice which formed the landscapes of the Jura piedmont.
